The 6 Best Women’s Multivitamins For Your Health And Wealth in 2020

Without health there, you can’t get wealth. Making sure that you are healthy is important to your wealth journey and finding the best multivitamins for your health is the key to that.

I learned this the hard way when Mr. Bunny-Hops and I moved to the Northeast.

As a teacher, you quickly learn that you need to keep your ENERGY LEVELS UP all the time. This means that your health is an absolute must if you want to do well at your job.

Most teachers can expect to get sick 2-3 times every year since you’re being exposed to your students’ germs. I managed to beat the average when I taught in the South – I would get sick almost 4-5 times a year!

Clearly, I wasn’t in the best health of my life. When I moved to the Northeast with Mr. Bunny-Hops, I was set up for failure.

Living in the Northeast, I was exposed to new germs it had never experienced before. Because of this, I was constantly sick for almost 5 months during my first year at a new school!

Since then, I made one major change in my life that helped decrease how often I get sick – even less than when I lived in the South.

That one major change? I began taking multivitamins.

What I didn’t realize all this time that my body was missing valuable vitamins to help defend against germs. It’s probably the reason why I was getting sick more often than most teachers when I lived in the South.

While 20/20 is hindsight, it should come as no surprise that I was constantly sick for 5 months teaching in the Northeast!

Being sick is not fun, but imagine being sick for an extended period of time.

I was constantly low on energy and barely getting through the day. When I would get home, all I was really able to do was eat, lie down, and sleep. My weekends were filled with resting and not getting a lot of sleep.

On top of that, I was visiting the doctor quite often which meant that the healthcare bills really began to add up!

How much did the healthcare bills add up to? We ended up spending over $600 on medical bills just to treat me!

Staying healthy saves you a lot more money than you realize!

Don’t make the same mistakes as me. Multivitamins are a better option than not taking them!

After seeing the benefit of multivitamins, I went out of my way to find the best multivitamins available.

What did we look for specifically?

A little foreward

There are many multivitamins out there for you to choose from. But there are even more multivitamins that end up being expensive pills that may not even cover all your needs!

As a matter of fact, there are multiple warnings by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration warning people to avoid taking multivitamins that promise more than being a vitamin product.

Make no mistake, multivitamins are a little bit more complex than just buying the best available multivitamin at your local store.

How did we rank the multivitamins?

When looking through multivitamins, there are many choices available to you. However, not all multivitamins are the same.

Some multivitamins contain more (and less) of certain types of vitamins. But why?

This might be news to some, but we are all different! The reason there are different multivitamins is to fit the biological different needs of people. In the same vein, we would choose a multivitamin that fits the need for each of our readers – but we can’t.

However, we did choose vitamins on three categories: Ingredients, Reviewer Side Effects, and Cost per pill.

Ingredients

The below are the most commonly recommended vitamins, metals, and minerals by nutritionist and doctors that we should take:

  • Vitamin D
  • Magnesium
  • Calcium
  • Zinc
  • Iron
  • Folate
  • Vitamin B-12

If all of these ingredients are in the multivitamin then we included them in our list. If you don’t see the multivitamin that you are used to taking, it is probably one of the above ingredients are missing. A lot of the most common multivitamins we looked through surprisingly didn’t contain those ingredients!

Reviewer Side Effects

Vitamins have different side effects for different people, so we couldn’t take all the vitamins and tell you the side effects ourselves. Instead, we sifted through reviews to determine the side effects people reported.

When taking any vitamin or multivitamins most common side effects most people report are headaches, stomach aches, nausea, and vomiting. If there are any additional side effects outside of those 4, we took note of it.

If you do have any of those common side effects, you may need to take your multivitamin on a full stomach, consider a different time of day to take it, or change your multivitamin all together.

Cost Per Pill

The final factor that we used was the amount of multivitamins by cost per pill… because you know- we’re, um, a personal finance site.

The lower the cost per pill – the better.

The Rankings

Remember to check in with your physician before making any change in your lifestyle.

Centrum Women Multivitamin

Out of all the different multivitamins on this list, Centrum is probably the most well-known vitamin maker and happens to be our number 1 pick.

Of all the different multivitamins on this list, this is the best budget pick as well. At $16 for 250 pills, they only require 1 pill a day to meet the daily values listed on the label. It is also gluten-free.

Despite not meeting the full daily requirements for calcium and magnesium, it ended up having one of the highest amounts of all the pills we reviewed. Also, unlike many of other multivitamins listed, this multivitamin does not contain biotin.

Biotin is something that helps with your hair and nail growth.

What the reviewers say

Aside from the common complaints (stomach aches, headaches, nausea, and vomiting), there is one rather large red flag.

Most people report an expiration date within 1 year on the vitamins. This is likely because they pack so much into one pill that it is rather unstable.

GNC Women’s Ultra Mega Energy and Metabolism Multivitamin

This multivitamin would easily be one of our top vitamins if it weren’t for one of the side-effects we found in the reviews.

At $18.31 for 90 pills, this is one of the most worth it pills on this list. However, there are two major issues that we found when researching these pills.

Aside from not having enough magnesium in their daily servings, it meets all the key ingredients in our list.

The second issue was some people reported that their pee became a neon green or neon yellow color. EEP!

Interestingly, of all the different vitamins that we reviewed, this was one of the only few vitamins that had caffeine in the vitamin. That is probably to help people feel more awake and “alive”.

What the reviewers say

Aside from the nausea, headaches, and stomaches. Other people complained of being jittery, likely the side effect of caffeine in the pills.

As mentioned, the major complaint is the vitamin turned some people’s pee neon yellow to neon green! If that is the case, make sure to stop taking the multivitamin.

Whole Food Multivitamin Plus

Whole Food Multivitamin Plus came in 3rd for our rankings because it was one of the few multivitamins that met all of our requirements for minerals and vitamins.

What makes Whole Food Multivitamin Plus particularly special is that they claim to be made from whole foods only. This means that it should be both vegan and vegetarian. It also claims to be gluten-free for people who have gluten allergies.

You will get 90 capsules for $23.47 at the time of this writing. However, the 90 capsules are only for a one month supply. To get the amount needed, you need to take 3 capsules per day. While this may seem like a lot, this was actually fairly standard for most multivitamins.

It is also one of the more expensive multivitamins on this list, but it is one of the more complete multivitamins on our list. However, it was a bit lacking in calcium and magnesium.

What the reviewers say

Most people who have taken this have reported excellent results and very few side effects.

Outside of headaches, stomach aches, nausea and vomiting, most complaints are between how large the pill is and how often you have to take the pills.

Nature’s Way Alive! Once Daily Women’s Multivitamin

For $13.89, you get 60 tablets enough for two month’s worth of supply.

Unlike many of the different multivitamins that made it on this list, this was one of the few multivitamins that only required 1 tablet each day. If you are someone who doesn’t particularly swallowing many pills at a time or over the course of the day, this would be an excellent choice.

Interestingly, a lot of the marketing around this multivitamin is it’s made from ingredients in the orchards and gardens which would lead you to think it’s vegetarian or vegan. However, it doesn’t claim to be vegetarian or vegan.

The reason why it’s likely not vegan is because it does attempt to pack a lot of Vitamin B12 into each pill. For those who don’t know Vitamin B12, is thought to help increase your energy levels. You might feel more energy after taking these pills.

If vegetarianism or veganism isn’t part of your lifestyle, this multivitamin is pretty worth it.

What the reviewers say

Reviewers reported the usual headaches, stomach aches, nausea, and vomiting. However, the most common complaint was the large pill size.

Another common complaint was a lot of people mistakenly thought that the multivitamins were gluten-free, vegan, or vegetarian. While the packaging and marketing is misleading, it never makes these claims in all the research we did.

NATURELO Whole Food Multivitamin

NATURELO’s one daily multivitamin is an excellent choice if you’re in the market for a pill made from plants only.

For $44.95, you get 120 pills. However, this is a 30 day supply worth of pills, which means you are required to take 4 pills a day in order to meet the number of servings on the back of the label.

The only major downside for this multivitamin is the calcium in each serving comes out to 15% – significantly lower than desired. However, there is some research that shows if you take high amounts of Vitamin D and Magnesium, you require less calcium.

What the reviewers say

The 4 pills a day really is a major turn off for us personally. When we researched these pills, there weren’t many complaints outside of the usual complaints of stomach aches, nausea, and headaches.

Most people do say that the pills are fairly easy to swallow. The smaller pill size is probably a big reason why they had to go with 4 pills daily.

Garden of Life – Vitamin Code Multivitamin

While the Garden of Life Multivitamin came near the bottom of our list, it actually is one of the most bought vitamins on Amazon on this list.

Remember how earlier we noted a lot of the most popular multivitamins were not included because they didn’t have all the ingredients we specified here. To put things in perspective how much your typical multivitamins don’t have certain key ingredients, Garden of Life ranked as the 17th best selling on Amazon.

Be aware, this multivitamin is low on both Calcium and Magnesium. In order to make your needed daily value, you will need to take 4 tablets each day.

It is one of the cheaper and more well-known brands on this list if those two traits are important to you. It also is vegetarian.

What the reviewers say

Similar to all the other multivitamins on this list, people complained of headaches, nausea, and stomaches. Interestingly, many people complained of gassiness afterward as well. Additionally, the taste is reportedly really bad.
